The 4-1-1 on Eyelash Extensions

I recently made the decision to give eyelash extensions a try!  Initially, I was hesitant, but I can't call myself a try blogger if I'm not willing to try something new and give you a candid review of my experience.  So, I went for it.

Here's my full review of the process, the results, and what I learned about the new trend.

If you are interested in trying them out too (and live in Colorado), I highly recommend Glosshouz in Centennial.  The staff was amazing and so accommodating when I mentioned it was my first time getting them done.  Their contact info is below:

Flawless Fall Makeup Tutorial!

Happy Wednesday, guys!  I hope you are getting to enjoy cooler nights like we are here in CO.  Last night, after I styled today's outfit, I realized it's been a while since I created a vlog post for you all.  So here you have it -- today's post is a quick, flawless makeup tutorial that's perfect for cooler weather!

After filming,  I realized I didn't address mascara.  I have eyelash extensions (which I recently got for the first time and will be reviewing next week), so you will want to apply mascara as step one, if needed!

Wait. You got BOTOX?!

It may surprise most of you, but I recently turned to BOTOX to solve a few of my medical needs.

First things first, let’s get the elephant out of the room! Yes, part of the draw for me was the added bonus of fine-line relief and elasticity retention.  However, the main reason I sought treatment was to help relieve the pain I experience from migraines.

As many of you know, Andrew and I were in a car accident in May of 2014.  In that accident, I suffered several injuries, including a neck injury and a concussion that left me bed ridden for 9 days.  I never understood the severity of concussions until having one myself, so I was floored to learn the long term impact on the brain and cognitive process.  I had never in my life had a migraine before the accident, but after the healing process began, I started experiencing them more and more frequently.  They have continued to get worse, as time has passed, and have become more frequent in Denver’s ever changing climate (mostly tied to the barometric pressure).

These painful, debilitating headaches always leave me frustrated and feeling hopeless.  You can imagine my disbelief when a girl friend of mine mentioned that I should consider BOTOX as a remedy.

Never the less, my curiosity got the best of me and I started researching injection specialist in the Denver area.  Thankfully, I came across Taylor Campbell, with Restorative Injectables!  I met her for a free consultation and immediately felt as ease!  She went over her bio, which included her experience as a Nurse Practitioner and extensive training in facial aesthetic nonsurgical treatments.  She explained the muscles system in my face that were causing my migraines, and also explained my worsening “11’s” between my eyes!  After that appointment, I knew that if I was going to try BOTOX, Taylor would be the one to administer my shots.

After a lot of deliberation, and research, I felt that BOTOX was a great option for me.  One of the biggest things I considered in my decision was the fact that BOTOX isn’t permanent… if I hated it, or it didn’t work for me, I didn’t have to do it again.  So, I made my appointment.

When I arrived, I had schedule 2 hours for my appointment.  I felt silly when I was leaving 20 minutes later.  The procedure was painless, quick, and I was completely comfortable.  I couldn’t have imagined it could go more smoothly.

How did things turn out for me?  I HAVEN’T HAD A MIGRAINE IN 6 WEEKS!!!!!  I couldn’t be happier with the product, with Taylor, or with my natural looking non-wrinkled forehead.  If you’ve been considering BOTOX, whether it be for migraines, cosmetic, or simply curiosity… You have to give Taylor a call!

A "Parent Trap" Worthy Face Mask!

Taking your skin care routine to the next level can be hard…  BUT, if you’re like me, then you’ve always dreamed of walking around your house in a mud mask- just like Meredith Blake from The Parent Trap – so taking that next step can be fun at times too!!

Today’s post is all about the amusing and glamorous side of being a girl – and you’ll LOVE the price of my favorite product!

Like I’ve mentioned before, Denver’s dry climate has pushed me to make changes to my skin care routine that I probably wouldn’t have done on my own.  While I’m grateful for the little nudge, I’m also constantly looking for the best products for my new developing fine lines…  I hope you’re enjoying all of the Wednesday beauty posts that are dedicated to helping you do the same thing!  Luckily, I’ve seen huge benefits from going that extra mile and doing a more in-depth regimen on a regular basis!

One of my favorite products I’ve added to my routine has been a bi-weekly face mask!  When I started down the path of further care, I didn’t want to overwhelm myself, so I started small.  This Dead Sea Mud Mask was a best seller on amazon, so I thought I would give it a try.  Not only was it affordable, it didn’t require any additional steps, had no man-made additives, and there was no chance of burning my face or peeling off skin because I didn’t know what I was doing!

To keep things manageable and hold myself account, I set a schedule to do the mask every other week!  I chose Sunday as my day because I knew that I wouldn’t be pressed for time and it would be a great way to start the week!

Little did I know I would fall so in love with the product that I felt compelled to buy it for my mom for Christmas…  I’ve started looking forward to “mask Sundays”!  They are a great way to make myself take some Me Time and ground myself before the week begins.  Not only has it been awesome for my state of mind, but my skin has LOVED the extra moisture and exfoliation.  I’ve found that every other week is the perfect amount of time; my face is never irritated or over moisturized!  My pores are smaller than they have ever been and I get compliments on my glowing complexion on a regular basis.

Want to try it out?  I’ve linked the product below for convenient shopping!!  && GUESS WHAT?  It’s less than $15 and available with free shipping!

A 1, 2, 3 Out the Door Hairstyle!

It's been a while since I've posted a hair tutorial, so I know this is long overdue!

This little number is the fastest and easiest way to get that "in style" braided look, without the hassle and time.  I've become dependent on easy hair styles since we got our little nugget... I mean who needs to potty 3 times in 40 minutes?!  I just don't have the time to play around like I used to.

So here's to a style that even a puppy-mom can throw together!

Wedding Hair Styles

Our wedding was absolutely perfect!  I cannot believe its been 60 days since we said "I DO."  Time has flown and I feel like a lifetime of things have happened since the beginning of the year!  I am loving the space we are in right now and it's been such an adventure to take this step together.

Now it's your turn!  You are finally going to take the plunge.  The big day comes with a ton of emotions and stresses, but if you take a minute to read my experiences, you'll be able to minimize the unpleasant parts and enjoy every moment of the important parts.  SOOOOO -- Today's post is all about WEDDING HAIR!

Obviously the way you look on your wedding day is a big deal... You've spent month preparing and planning for an event you will remember forever. These pictures will hang in your house and your family will look at them for generations. Hopefully at this stage, you have a pretty clear idea of what you want your image to look like!  You're probably picked out your dress and have been fitted - yipeeeee! But now it's time to decide how you want to wear your hair. I suggest looking in magazines, perusing Pinterest, and also thinking about your own hair... The last one is important because you need to set real expectations for what your hair can do. If you have thin, fine hair getting a full up-do will be nearly impossible.

Once you have a hair style you've chosen, it's time to choose your stylist!  Finding a stylist can be hard, especially one that wont break the bank -- so here are a few steps to make the process of choosing a hair artist for your big day a little easier::

  1. Ask around- personal referrals are the best way to get a list of possible stylists, even searching wedding blogs in the area would be helpful!
  2. Peruse Instagram accounts of stylists in the area of your wedding, add ones you like to the list of referrals.
  3. Google "Wedding Hair Stylists in XXXXX."  Check out their websites and add the ones you like to your list.
  4. Send Initial Contact email to all stylists on your list.  Ask them for pricing, availability, and a list of what you are hoping to have done.  If you have photos of the look you want, that will be very helpful in determining price!  You'll also want to ask about having your bridesmaid's hair done, if you're planning to do that.  How to choose those styles is suggested below!  NOTE: Some stylist will give you a discount for bigger groups.  Lastly, You'll need to ask for their "day of timeline" and travel costs, if you are having them travel a long way.
  5. Gather all of the responses and weigh your options.  You will immediately be able to rule out a good number of them if you are financially bound by a certain price point.
  6. Choose your stylist and sign the contract!

I think the biggest challenge when planning the "bridal party look" is deciding what you want the ceremony to look like.  Luckily, by this point, you've already chosen your wedding dress and your venue.  The next step is choosing the bridesmaid's dress and hair styles!   There is definitely a method to this madness and I would recommend picking out the dresses before deciding the hair styles, but they should be decided in the same time frame.  If you won't be paying for the girls to have their hair done, you may want to consider dresses that would flatter a simple curled hairstyle or half up, half down looks.  If you are going to be wearing your hair down and would like all of the girls to wear their hair up, you will need to consider this when picking dresses.

I've linked photos of all the hairstyles we used for our big day:

For all of those who have asked, I had the pleasure of working with Mackenzie from Haute Hare Salon in Castle Rock.  The girls were absolutely amazing and you can see from the photos, they ROCK at their jobs!  You can check out her gallery on Instagram - @acoloradohairstylist
