Valentine's Day Gift Ideas

Ok, so I know this is REALLY late… Like really late.  Christmas has come and gone, and Valentine’s Day is already on the way! So even though these were my favorite gifts for the holiday season, they would make great Valentine’s Day gifts for someone special.

Let’s start with everyone’s favorite gift - jewelry!  It’s about the only cliche gift I can’t get enough of.  I can live without flowers and chocolate, but jewelry has a special place in my heart.  One of my favorite gifts this Christmas was my earring/necklace set from Bloom Jewelry!  The black diamonds are just unique enough to attract a ton of compliments!  Denver-based Jewelry by Bloom, owned by jewelry designer Lindsay Bloom, has a unique feel, beautiful craftsmanship, and comes at an awesome price point!  I’m wearing her  Pave Diamond Bar Studs. They are beautifully hand-made with Black Diamonds, set in 14k gold studs. They are versatile because the sparkle is beautiful and classy, but the style is snappy-casual! If you are searching for an accessory that is special and understated, the Pave Diamond Football Necklace is perfect. It features a oxidized silver/black diamonds in the shape of a football - sorry, I have the super bowl on my mind!  The shape is a unique piece that catches the eye, yet the small size is dainty and right up my alley.

See more looks from Bloom over on , where my best girlfriend’s and I had a little fun in their collection!

My next favorite gift was actually a stocking stuffer!!  Biossance’s Makeup Removing Cloths were absolutely a perfect gift for me.  I am (most of the time) too lazy to wash my face at night… so I often turn to cleansing cloths.  After forgetting my pack when I traveled home for the holidays, I was so excited to open these little gems Christmas morning!  If you are in need of a gentle makeup remover that is easy on your skin- these you need to give these little guys a chance! The Refresher cloths, as Biossance calls the little pack, are a great solution as they moisturize beautifully but do not leave you with a greasy feeling afterwards. It’s also a great option for those of you who want a natural alternative to makeup removers! The key ingredients are squalane, which is plant-derived and protects skin from losing moisture, an antioxidant blend of rosemary, rice bran, and sunflower extract, along with vitamin E. These protectants keep your skin glowing after you have used the cloths. Finally, hemisqualane, derived from sugarcane, helps gently cleanse. These would be a wonderful gift for the cosmetics guru in your life!

The last gift that I wanted to highlight today is my new favorite mountain accessory!  Perfect for chilly Colorado days and nights, this Royal Scout and Co Faux Fur Neck Wrap (in Wolf) is classy and so warm. I was so excited to receive a chic accessory to layer warmth effortlessly!!  If you are on the hunt for a perfect “Apres Ski” fashion statement...this one fits the bill. It easily adds a luxurious element to anything (even ski gear - trust me!). Being a smaller size than a scarf, it works so well for travel. I couldn’t take this off while on a recent trip up in the mountains! Whether worn with my favorite LBD or over a sweater, I’ve found it is functional, fashionable, and would make a great V-day gift for a girl who loves “woodland chic.”

I hope you all love these gifts, as much as I did!!

XOXO, Rebecca

Introducing Seasonal Sips:: The Gingerbread Wakeup Call

This fall, I have a new series I'm going to be introducing... "Seasonal Sips"!

This series will highlight new and exciting self-created recipes from my kitchen to yours.  Through these recipes, I hope to connect with you and inspire you to try new brands of spirits with a fresh spin on old classics.  I hope you look forward to these as much as we have looked forward to creating them in our home!  I can't take all the credit for some of the recipes you'll see, Andrew helped when my creative juices were at wits end.

Without further delay, here is the first recipe I'm unveiling -- The Gingerbread Wakeup Call.

This TASTY and easy recipe has become a staple in our house.  The smooth coffee flavors are paired with a deliciously sweet holiday whiskey, making for an irritable fall treat!  Check out the full recipe below:

The Gingerbread Wakeup Call

1 Bottle Starbucks Frappuccino Coffee (Mocha Light Flavor, 9.5 oz)

1.5 oz Southern Comfort Gingerbread Spice whiskey

1 can of whip cream

Cinnamon (ground)

Nutmeg (ground)

Cinnamon Stick, for garnish

First, remove the cap from the glass jar of coffee.  Place the coffee (in the topless jar) in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds.  While that's heating, poor your Southern Comfort Gingerbread Spice whiskey in a fancy mug (because that's more festive).  After the coffee has been heated, poor the entire bottle over your whiskey.  Next, top with whip cream.  To finish, sprinkle equal amounts of cinnamon and nutmeg on top.  Garnish with a cinnamon stick.

Post Christmas Shopping:: Deals and Steals!

Hyde Park 1.jpg

The after Christmas slump is here as we anxiously await New Years!!  I’ve begun creating my New Year’s resolutions and I can’t wait to share them with you, but they aren’t quite done yet!

Today, I’m taking some much needed down time and headed to the mall for some retail therapy!  I absolutely love this time of year because many of my favorite stores are having sales you can’t pass up!   A huge thanks to Alex Takes Photos for documenting this look :)

Here’s a rundown of things to look for this holiday season:

1: Shoe Sales- Many of my favorite stores are having BOGO sales.  Not to mention that the majority of the winter boots are discounted, too!  Be sure and check discount stores like DSW or Nordstrom Rack, as they will be getting shoes major retailers are phasing out.

2: Cologne Sales- Every brand uses this time to push the last of their Gift Sets to sales.  They are hoping you will come in and use the gift card burning a hole in your pockets on their nifty little sets.  They are a great way to snag a travel size of your favorite fragrances.

3: Jewelry Sales- Many jewelers offer sales between Christmas and New Year’s Day!  The jewelry I’m wearing in this post is from Hyde Park Jewelers.  They are an absolutely amazing store in the Denver Cherry Creek mall and have jewelry to accommodate any budget!

BONUS:: When you spend $250 in jewelry.. You’ll receive a A FREE PAIR OF IPPOLITA EARRINGS (worth $195) as a gift for being a Novice Native follower!!  Check out the links to my current look below:

4: Makeup Sales- Head over the Estee Lauder and take advantage of their “Red Box” sale, as I like to call it.  They offer an amazing gift box for purchase when you buy a fragrance you already love…  The box is only $57 and has over $200 worth of product.  You can’t beat this holiday deal!!!

With all of that in mind, grab your things and head to the nearest mall… or website if you want to take advantage of Hyde Park’s special offer :: you can explore their entire #TheLuxeList gift guide!

I hope you had an absolutely amazing Christmas.  You all deserve it!

The Festive Side Braid:: 2-Minute Hair Tutorial

Good morning, my favorite people!!!

It's Christmas Eve and I couldn't be more excited.  I have a special treat for you today :)  This quick 2 minute hair tutorial will show you how to create the easiest side braid (perfectly timed for a great Christmas morning look)!  I hope you have a fabulous day with family and friends.  Take a second to remember the reason we are celebrating.

The Gift that Keeps on Giving:: The DIY Home Spa

Last week, I was invited by a girl friend, Brittany Pillard of Cashmere Gypsy, to join her for a girl’s-night-in consisting of DIY spa treats and the most amazing hot chocolate bar known to {wo}man!!  Needless to say the night was magical.

Brittany created the cutest comment signs that instructed the guests how to build their own holiday treats to gift to friends and family.  When we arrived, she had already made samples of the three treats we were making… Peppermint Sugar Scrub, Whipped Body Butter, and Vanilla Bath Bombs.

I thought I’d spread the holiday goodness with you all!!  Below are the recipes for the sugar scrub and the whipped body butter.  If you’re interested in the bath bombs, you can check out the recipe here on Brittany’s blog!

Peppermint Sugar Scrub

4 cups White Sugar

2 cups Coconut Oil

4 drops Green (or Blue) Food Coloring

40 drops Peppermint Oil

Melt the coconut oil in a microwave safe dish.  Pour it over the white sugar and mix thoroughly.  Next add the food coloring and peppermint oil.  Mix again.  Portion into gift size jars and share the joy!!

Whipped Body Butter

2 cups Olive Oil

2 cups Cocoa Butter

2 cups Shea Butter

12 drops Lavender Oil

12 drops Grapefruit Oil

In a medium saucepan, melt the butters.  After they are melted, add the olive oil and scented oils.  Place in the fridge to harden for 30 minutes.  After the timer goes off, take the butter out and whip it with a blender.  Replace in the fridge and continue to the process until it has a whipped, light consistency.

I hope you all love these recipes as much as I have…. My family loves them too!  Merry Christmas!!

The Holiday Gift Guide:: Gift with Purchase You Can't Afford to Miss!

Feeling a little behind on your shopping?   Never fear!  I have the perfect solution for that special someone in your life.  This gift guide is chalk full for fun, diverse gifts that will not only say “Merry Christmas” but also “You’re really special to me”!

If you’re shopping for your mom, Mother-in-Law, or even your wife, the wonderful ladies at Hyde Park Jewelers in Cherry Creek Mall have a VERY special surprise for you.  The watches and bracelets shown below aren’t just stunning, but they also come with A FREE PAIR OF IPPOLITA EARRINGS (valued at $195) on a purchase of $250 or more just for being a Novice Native follower!!  Can you say 2-in-1 gift!?  Buy your girl that shiny watch she always talks about wanting, then save the earrings for Valentine’s Day.  If you have several gifts you’re behind on, you could always give them as another gift…  Don’t forget to mention you heard about the earrings from me to ensure your free gift with purchase!

If you’re loving these looks as much as I am, you can shop them here:

Lagos Black Caviar Sterling Silver & 18K Yellow Gold Diamond Caviar Bracelet

Or you can explore their entire #TheLuxeList gift guide!

Now, let’s say you want something a little more festive for a stocking stuffer…

These adorable sweater coffee mugs make for a great festive treat.  You can even enjoy hot coco by the fire while watching Elf a little later!  The mugs don’t have to have sweaters (although I highly recommend it)… any festive and adorable porcelain glass will do!  If you find yourself stumped for drink ideas… you could check out the recipe I post yesterday, or peruse Pinterest on your flight home!

Another great option is to add skin care and beauty items to stockings for loved ones.  My mom always said that jewelry and moisturizer were the way to her heart.  A festive winter lip color is always an option too!  If you’re unsure of which color to get, you can always visit a retailer in your local mall (after you stop by Hyde Park) and ask for assistance.  They are always happy to help and point you toward a long-lasting shade that won’t smear.

Now, the last gift on this holiday gift guide is a personal favorite.  I received this gift from my sister when we celebrated our little family Christmas this year.  It’s the tin “B” with tiny, adorable light bulbs!  I was so excited when I opened it because it’s so chic, yet perfect (as I’ll be changing last names this coming February)!  If you have any brides-to-be in your life, these would be the perfect gift.

I hope this makes your shopping lists a little bit easier to manage!  The holidays are such a fun time to be with family and friends… enjoy them.  But don’t forget, a thoughtful gift speak volumes to those you love.  It’s taken me a very long time to understand this!  I finally received the award of “Good Gift Giver” in my family this year = SUCCESS!

Happy Holiday, guys!
